Laboratory



During the second half of year 2008 Profilink Ltd. furnished a contemporary test laboratory for measuring and control of the prime and raw materials and the final product. The laboratory disposes of state-of-art equipment, which tracks the main quality indices and the physical-mechanical properties of the profiles in conformity with the Bulgarian and International Quality Standards. This provided optimization of the production quality control process through giving an opportunity for a regular sample testing, better flexibility in introducing new more effective compounding materials for the profile production and opportunity for constant improvement
of the company products. The project was realized with the investment support of the European Union and the Republic of Bulgaria under operational programme PHARE BG 2005 BG 2005/017-353.10.04 „Enhancement of the competitiveness of the Bulgarian companies”.

LIST OF THE SERVICES OFFERED BY TESTING LABORATORY PROFILINK LTD.


1. 1. Determination of the resistance to artificial weathering according to Bulgarian State Standard EN 513 with a xenochamber. A xenon-arch light source is used. The apparatus satisfies the requirements of Bulgarian State Standard EN ISO 4892 part 1 and 2.
2. 2. Determination of the colour of the solid and powdered materials and determination of the permissible deviation of the standard colour according to ISO 774 and Bulgarian State Standard EN 12608.
Additional option - determination the gloss of solid materials.

3. Determination the determination of the heat reversion of profiles according to Bulgarian State Standard EN 479.
4. Determination the effect of heat on the profiles after conditioning at 150° С according to Bulgarian State Standard EN 478.
5. Determination of pourability according to Bulgarian State Standard EN ISO 6186.
6. Determination of apparent density according to Bulgarian State Standard EN ISO 60.
Additional option – measuring the weight with accuracy to 0.1 mg.

7. Determination of the resistance to impact of with a free-falling object according to Bulgarian State Standard EN 477.
8. Determination of Charpy impact strenght according to Bulgarian State Standard EN ISO 179.
9. Determination of tensile-impact strength according to Bulgarian State Standard EN ISO 8256.
10. Determination of the strength of welded corners according to Bulgarian State Standard EN 514.

DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFERED SERVICES



Determination of the resistance to artificial weathering according to Bulgarian State Standard EN 513 with a xenochamber. A xenon-arch light source is used.

The laboratory disposes of xenon testing chamber Q - SUN with a xenon- arc light source. The source emits a light flux of the visible spectrum part and UV beams of the invisible spectrum part. The UV beams are of most unfavourable influence over the PVC profile parameters. The samples are placed in the chamber and acted upon over and over again with repeated cycles of irradiation, heating, water spraying and cooling. In this way
are stimulated the real climate conditions to which the PVC profile is exposed. The parameters of impact and the regularity of the cycles are entered by an operator according to the requirements of the standard and the client. After passing the xenochamber test, they undergo additional checks such as colour brightness indices, colour and gloss change and other parameters depending on the customer’s requirements.

Determination of the colour of the solid and powdered materials and determination of the permissible deviation of the standard colour according to ISO 774 and Bulgarian State Standard EN 12608.

The determination of the colour is carried out by an up-to-date spectrophotometer. The device provides an additional option for determining the colour of the powdered substances. The gloss of the solid surfaces is determined by a glossmeter. The devices allow fast and precise measuring, achievement of the necessary colour and gloss control according to the customer’s requirements.

Determination the determination of the heat reversion of profiles according to Bulgarian State Standard EN 479.

This test is performed in a special heating chamber where the set temperature is maintained with high precision. The samples taken from the produced profiles are placed in the chamber at an exact temperature for a set period of time. After completion of the rest the profile reversion is measured in percents.

Determination the effect of heat on the profiles after conditioning at 150° С according to Bulgarian State Standard EN 478.

The test is performed in the same laboratory device, mentioned in the previous section, but at higher temperature. After completion of the test the visual profile control is performed. Defects which cannot be ascertain throughout the production process (hidden defects) can be noticed here.

Determination of pourability according to Bulgarian State Standard EN ISO 6186.

Determination of apparent density according to Bulgarian State Standard EN ISO 60.

Additional option – measuring the weight with accuracy to 0.1 mg.

Determination of the resistance to impact of with a free-falling object according to Bulgarian State Standard EN 477.

The test is performed in the following succession:
- taking samples from the production at a certain period of time
- conditioning the samples in a freezer at a fixed temperature for a fixed period of time
- testing the samples with a free-falling object, mass 1 kg, from a height 1000 mm or 1500 mm
The test conditions can be altered depending on the customer’s requirements.

Determination of Charpy impact strength according to Bulgarian State Standard EN ISO 179.

The laboratory disposes of an u-to-day device for determining the Charpy impact strength. Sample objects with sizes after the standard are produced for the purpose of performing the test. The laboratory disposes of the necessary Charpy hammer kit, ensuring the precision of the test result. The test result is a numeric value of the impact strength, being an index of the profile strength and fragility. The impact is used for determination the profile impact indices before and after the samples undergo artificial weathering in the xenochamber. The laboratory provides an opportunity for testing different types of samples using the appropriate method for that.

Determination of tensile-impact strength according to Bulgarian State Standard EN ISO 8256.

The test is performed in a way similar to the one described in the previous section with the difference that for this test are produced different samples and Charpy hammer kit. The purpose of the test is to put the similar objects under high degree of linear deformation. The received values of the test provide information about the material strength.

Determination of the strength of welded corners according to Bulgarian State Standard EN 514.

Welded corners undergo test according to the accepted production technology. Over the so-prepared main profile samples is applied impact and the strength at which they split is measured. This is a means of controlling the welding strength.
